Beachwood Bison Soccer Academy Program Information

  • Beachwood Bison Soccer Academy, in partnership with SYSA, offers girls and boys  Recreational teams for players entering Grades 1-6.

  • There are no tryouts and we strive to provide every player substantial playing time.

  • Players are also provided opportunities to play in different positions throughout the season so they develop a well rounded understanding of the game.

  • Recreational  leagues are offered in the Fall and Spring

  • Each season is approximately eight (8)  weeks long

  • Teams are coached by Volunteer Coaches who are overseen and assisted by our Director of Operations, Doreen Katz, and our Professional Staff Coaches.

  • SYSA is NOT able to provide Pro Coaches to run individual team practices or games in our efforts to keep our Recreation League program affordable and accessible to all. We encourage each team to have an Assistant Volunteer Coach to help out, and that Volunteer Coaches work with parents to find Substitute Coaches whenever needed.

  • Players can register for one or both seasons.

FREE FRIDAY FOOTSKILLS CLINICS!  As a member of the SYSA Recreation League, your player is invited to participate in free Friday Footskills Clinics led by SYSA Staff coaches held between 5pm and 7pm each week during the season.

  • Friend requests are accepted, and we will do our best to place players with one (1) friend.

  • Teams must have a volunteer coach. Please click here to learn more about this position.

  • Teams will play at least 1 game per weekend. If divisions have uneven numbers, teams may have doubleheaders

  • We will do our best to make alternate plans or reschedule practices and games when the city closes the fields due to inclement weather.  However, we can not guarantee that all games and practices will be made up.

  • SYSA reserves the right to adjust divisions/teams as needed to create the best options for players.

  • Registration includes a team jersey.  Spring teams will use the same jersey they were provided in the fall. Only new players will receive a jersey.

  • Field Closures Due to Weather: The City of Shaker Heights or the City of Beachwood may close fields due to wet or unsafe conditions. We will also close fields in the event of thunder or lightening for a minimum of 30 minutes and until coaches decide conditions are safe. Please note the following:

    • Game Delays: We will delay games up to 30 minutes if heavy rain and/or lightening is likely to pass. Please shelter at the fields while coaches assess the situation.

    • Make-up Practices: Practices will be cancelled if fields are closed. Official make-up practices will NOT be held due to field scheduling constraints; however, individual coaches may make alternate practice plans. Teams that miss practice due to weather are encouraged to attend Free Friday Footskills.

    • Make-up Games: In the event of rainouts, make-up games may be scheduled during the following week's practices on a case by case basis. In the event of more than one rained out Saturday, SYSA will extend the Recreation League season a maximum of one week to October 30 as weather permits.

    • While we will make every effort to schedule make-up games, SYSA is not liable for weather conditions and cannot issue any refunds due to the administrative and staffing costs of the Recreation League.
